Information For Librarians
Population Biology Modeling & Theory (PBMT), published by Stanford University Press (SUP), is a peer-reviewed journal reporting advances in modeling and theory in population biology, covering areas including demography, ecology, epidemiology, evolutionary biology, population genetics, and phylogenetics. In addition to research articles, the journal also publishes commentaries, scholarly reviews, software notes, and pedagogical articles.
PBMT is owned by the Society for Modeling and Theory in Population Biology.
In 2026 the journal is supported through SUP's limited grant funding to operate under the Diamond Open Access model, meaning there are no APCs or subscription fees to publish or read. In 2027 the journal is planning to transition to the Subscribe to Open model, in order to continue offering $0 APCs for authors.
To help support the continued open access of PBMT beginning 2027, please contact journals@sup.org.
